There is a lot of talk about the Life Lift Shelter beds, as seen on ABC’s Shark Tank. It is one of the most accessible storm/safe rooms on the market today and it is now available in Illinois and Indiana. The Texas Wind Institute approved the Life Lift Vortex Vaults Bed after rigorous testing with a pneumatic cannon firing various construction materials at wind speeds of 250 MPH at the safe room just like would happen in a severe weather event. It passed with flying colors and is to FEMA standards, meaning it can withstand EF5 tornados and hurricane-force winds.
One of the most innovative features is that it is installed under your bed, out of sight and out of the way, until danger threatens. You never have to risk going out into a dangerous storm to an outdoor shelter or drive somewhere in treacherous conditions. Just deploy and open the door for full access inside your own home without having to go down dangerous stairs—or worry about accessibility for those in wheelchairs or with any mobility issues. Mid States Life Lift offers three options of this innovative life-saving shelter. Each Life Lift Shelter Bed is available to fit your Twin, Full, Queen or King-size beds. The size you choose determines the number of people the shelter will hold.
Three Stage Bed
This model was demonstrated on ABC’s Shark Tank. It may appear like an ordinary bed with your own choice of bedding—but when severe weather approaches, the Shelter springs into action in about 60 seconds offering full protection from destructive straight winds, tornadoes, earthquakes or home invasions. The 57-inch height allows the elderly and those using wheelchairs, walkers and canes immediate access. This is a perfect choice to protect your entire family and those who struggle with going underground, or who have experienced previous trauma from severe weather. It is in the comfort and safety of your own home and is equipped with a USB port to stay in contact, full ventilation and battery power in case there is a power outage.
The Slope Top lifts the head of the bed, so it is our medium-priced model. The head lifts to offer 38-inch head room (equivalent to a few inches taller than a kitchen counter). Several people can sit comfortably at the raised end. The foot of the bed remains at the 19-inch height allowing another person to lie down at the foot of the shelter. You can also store valuables in it. The Slope Top offers you peace of mind knowing your family is protected from tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes and home invasions. On non-emergency days, the Slope Top can even allow you to watch TV, or aides in breathing or reflux problems. The Slope Top offers the same USB port, ventilation and battery power.
Standard Bed Frame
Our most economical option is the Standard Bed Frame with no lift to raise the bed—but still protects against injuries from tornadoes, straight winds, earthquakes and home invasions. Simply open the door and crawl under the bed. It has a 19-inch clearance to ride out the danger. This is a good option when your family members can crawl under the bed and offers the same protection without leaving your home.
